It is now becoming increasingly common for vendors and prospective buyers to carry out an asbestos survey of the property following a home buyers survey, HIPS or a structural survey. It is especially important to know what asbestos containing materials maybe present within the property before any refurbishment works such as electrical re-wiring, plumbing or extension work is carried out as these trades may disturb any asbestos containing materials that are present. ( your mortgage provider may also request you to organise an asbestos survey prior to them agreeing a mortgage)
